Context

Why DWAI was established

Deaf women and girls often encounter overlapping barriers: gender discrimination, audism, inaccessible health communication, stigma, violence and limited participation in decisions that affect them.

DWAI combines accessible information, community education, advocacy and institutional engagement. Its work is intended to support the direct participation and leadership of Deaf women.
